How to distinguish “glass”-the difference between the advantages of laminated glass and insulating glass

What is insulating glass?

Insulating glass was invented by Americans in 1865. It is a new type of building material with good heat insulation, sound insulation, aesthetics and applicability, which can reduce the weight of buildings. It uses two (or three) pieces of glass between the glass. Equipped with a moisture-absorbing desiccant to ensure a long-term dry air layer inside the hollow glass, free of moisture and dust. Adopt high-strength, high-air-tight composite glue to bond the glass plate and the aluminum alloy frame to make high-efficiency soundproof glass.

What is laminated glass?

Laminated glass is also called laminated glass. Two or several pieces of float glass are sandwiched with a tough PVB (ethylene polymer butyrate) film, which is heated and pressed to exhaust the air as much as possible, and then put in an autoclave and use high temperature and high pressure to remove a small amount of residual air. In the film. Compared with other glass, it has anti-vibration, anti-theft, bullet-proof and explosion-proof properties.

So, which one should I choose between laminated glass and insulating glass?

First of all, laminated glass and insulating glass have the effects of sound insulation and heat insulation to a certain extent. However, laminated glass has excellent shock resistance and explosion-proof properties, while insulating glass has better thermal insulation properties.

In terms of sound insulation, there are different differences between the two. Laminated glass has good seismic performance, so when the wind is strong, the possibility of self-vibration noise is very small, especially in the low frequency. Hollow glass is prone to resonance.

However, insulating glass has a slight advantage in isolating external noise. Therefore, according to different places, the glass to be selected is also different.

Insulating glass is still the mainstream!

Insulating glass is the standard glass subsystem of Suifu doors and windows. Insulating glass is composed of two (or three) pieces of glass. The glass pieces are bonded to the aluminum alloy frame containing desiccant by using a high-strength, high-airtight composite glue to produce efficient sound insulation and heat insulation. Insulation grass.

1. Thermal insulation

The thermal conductivity of the sealing air layer of insulating glass is much lower than the traditional one. Therefore, compared with a single piece of glass, the insulation performance of insulating glass can be doubled: in summer, insulating glass can block 70% of the solar radiation energy, avoiding indoors. Overheating can reduce the energy consumption of air conditioners; in winter, insulating glass can effectively block the loss of indoor heating and reduce the heat loss rate by 40%.

2. Security protection

Glass products are tempered at a constant temperature of 695 degrees to ensure that the surface of the glass is evenly heated; the temperature difference that can withstand is 3 times that of ordinary glass, and the impact strength is 5 times that of ordinary glass. When the hollow tempered glass is damaged, it will turn into bean-shaped (obtuse-angled) particles, which is not easy to hurt people, and the safety experience of doors and windows is more secure.

3. Sound insulation and noise reduction

The hollow layer of the door and window glass is filled with inert gas-argon. After being filled with argon, the sound insulation and noise reduction effect of doors and windows can reach 60%. At the same time, due to the low thermal conductivity of the dry inert gas, the insulation performance of the hollow argon gas filled layer is much higher than that of ordinary doors and windows.
For ordinary household use, insulating glass is the most widely used choice. If you live in a high-rise area, where the wind is strong and the outside noise is low, laminated glass is also a good choice.

The most direct manifestation of these two types of glass is the use of the sun room. The top of the sun room generally adopts laminated double-layer tempered glass. The facade glass of the sun room uses insulating glass.

Because if you encounter objects falling from a high altitude, the safety of laminated glass is relatively high, and it is not easy to be completely broken. The use of insulating glass for the facade glass can better achieve the heat insulation effect, making the sun room warm in winter and cool in summer. Therefore, it cannot be said which double-layer laminated glass or double-layer insulating glass is better, but can only say which aspect has greater demand.
